Top Social Media Platforms for Local Business

Follow the People

There are so many social media platforms out there.  You’ve got Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, SnapChat, Twitter, Google +, and on and on.  Everybody’s talking about which ones are the hottest ones and how they’re making a killing on these platforms.  You’re probably asking yourself which ones should I be on?  My answer to that is you should be on as many as you can make sense of.  If you think about it every dollar your business has earned or opportunity you’ve been presented with as an individual has come from another person.  So you want to go where the people are, right?  You want to follow the money or in other words, follow the people.

If people don’t know who we are they can’t do business with us.  If they know who we are, but they’re not thinking about because we’re not staying top of mind by networking in person, advertising, social media, video marketing they won’t do business with us.

Don’t Fly Under the Radar

You hear people say it all the time.  I want to be successful in business or in sales, but this social media, online stuff it’s not for me.  I just want to fly under the radar.  The only time that flying under the radar can be good is if you’re a criminal and you’re ripping people off.  The chances are you’re not a criminal, but when people go online to find out about us and they can’t find anything there or it’s very limited they don’t know that.

What’s the first step someone takes when they want to find out about a product, a service, a company, or a person?  They go to google, nothing there Facebook, if b2b LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube.  Nothing there it’s creepy, it’s weird.

No Money Online?

Here I am talking about using social media to make money, but you’re probably not going to even make money online.  You’re probably thinking, you just contradicted yourself.  You’re not going to make money online.  The only way you’re going to make money online is if you have a buy button on your website or you’re in e-commerce and you sell your products/service online.  You want to use the internet and social media to get face-to-face, have people call you, or walk into your business so when you do meet with them you have more credibility, you get less resistance, charge profitable prices, and shorten the buying cycle.

Be Efficient

Unless we have a full-time staff dedicated to just handling your social media we want to be efficient with where we put our attention.  We have a business to run, appointments with clients, and we need to close business. We don’t have time to be on a computer all day handling our social media.  Even if you hire a digital marketing agency to handle it for you there are most likely going to be a few social media platforms that will give you the most bang for your buck.

So what are those platforms?  To find out watch the video above…
